Surface Treatment 

The most important part of workbench maintenance, and the key to its durability

✅ Linseed Oil

• easy application, natural look
• beech wood absorbs it well
• apply at least 2 coats (until the wood stops absorbing)
• second coat after 24–48 hours
• always wipe off excess with a cloth
• treat the underside of the top as well
• the base only needs 1 coat

👉 Ideal for most workshops

✅ Varnish

• suitable for humid environments (above ~60%)
• protects against moisture and deformation
• more complex application
• apply to both sides of the tabletop
• the base only needs oil

👉 Ideal for garages, basements, etc.

✅ Wax

• easy application with a cloth
• rub into the wood → then polish
• creates a smooth, pleasant surface
• don’t forget the underside

👉 A good compromise between oil and varnish

🔄 Combination (Recommended)

• top: oil or wax
• bottom: varnish

👉 Best protection against moisture and wear
